In May 2014, influential online magazine Sight Unseen launched Sight Unseen OFFSITE in Soho, New York City. The satellite design exhibition featured works by Sight Unseen’s handpicked emerging design talents, established cutting-edge design brands, and a series of pop-up shops.
For the launch, Sight Unseen OFFSITE took over two floors of raw space in a 17,000 square foot landmarked Soho building, bringing for the first time all the exhibitors together in one dynamic space. Sight Unseen OFFSITE coincided with the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) and was a featured project of NYCxDESIGN.
Kokoro & Moi was responsible for the Sight Unseen OFFSITE identity as well as the art direction and design of all promotional material, from the exhibition graphics to the website.
The identity is a playful combination of the Sight Unseen identity with an OFFSITE add-on, invoking a temporary feel befitting a migrating exhibition. The colored strips overlap and collide in tactile and unexpected ways, similar to an online publication emerging into a physical space. The dynamic elements create a graphic system that adapts effortlessly to a variety of functions – including a labelling system in the exhibition space.
