Lighthearted identity for the pop-up cafe, inspired by its patinated bronze neighbours
Havis Amanda (fondly known as Manta among the locals) is a fountain located on the edge of the Helsinki Market Square. At the center of the fountain is a bronze statue of a naked woman, accompanied by four sea lions lying on the edge of the pool. The statues were sculpted by Ville Vallgren in Paris in 1906.
In the summer of 2022, a seasonal pop-up cafe, Cafe Manta, a joint operation by Sofia Helsinki and Bryggeri, opened near the fountain. Kokoro & Moi designed a simple yet playful and fun visual identity for the cafe.

The inspiration for the design was found close by. The adjacent fountain with its beloved bronze figures also became the heroes of the visual identity. A flirtatious maiden and lively and whimsical sea lions take center stage in the identity, in the form of illustrations made in a relaxed and playful style. Animated versions entertained the audience on social media.
In addition to the illustrations, the simple and light-hearted identity was built around typography tailored for the logo, and a mint green color derived from patinated copper of the sculptures.
Beloved sculptures come to life in the form of illustrations, being the main characters of the visual identity.
