Redesigning Bonalive – a smart biomaterial company transforming the future of healthcare.
Bonalive is a biomaterial company offering a range of products that naturally facilitate the filing, reconstruction and regeneration of bone defects. Championing smarter solutions to the growing epidemic of antimicrobial resistance, their smart healing solutions are currently available in over 40 markets worldwide. We teamed up with Bonalive to help them become more relevant within the challenges of the medical industry, aligning their business efforts with a customer-centric approach.
The desire was to make the brand more approachable, human, and open to new ways of working within the medical industry. Based on the brand positioning and brand promise, Smart Healing, the visual identity was designed to convey and reinforce trust, easiness, elegance and simplicity. ‘Smart’ was applied to its maximum potential in the new identity.

Based on the brand positioning and brand promise, Smart Healing, the visual identity was designed to convey and reinforce trust, easiness, elegance and simplicity.
Bonalive’s bioactive glass technology and smart healing is visualised in the identity through patterns, photography, colors, pictograms and use of typography. The dotted patterns were designed to visualise the Bonalive’s healing process of the bone defects. The pastel colours create a soft and calm palette and are richly used through the various touchpoints, making the identity vivid and approachable. For the printed matter, the foil effects bring the glassy feel in the details, imitating the material of the Bonalive’s technology. The logo is crafted from Baton Turbo, a grotesque font that combines a simple straightforward formal approach, with eccentric letter shapes. The selected typography conveys easiness and simplicity, the essential qualities of the brand. In the brand photography the human body is in the main role, showed in the natural and soft light, brand colours as a backdrop. In addition, the photos of the sets of the materials and equipment used in the healing process complete the whole.
Kokoro & Moi has been involved in developing the brand identity and multiple brand experiences for Bonalive, from printed matter and stationery to publications and a new website.
